First introduced for the 2022 model year, the IONIQ 5 quickly established itself as one of the premier all-electric compact SUVs on the road. For the 2025 model, Hyundai has outdone itself with an update and refresh that makes it better than ever.
Whether you’re already interested in a Hyundai IONIQ 5 for sale or you’ve just started checking out what this battery electric vehicle (BEV) compact SUV has to offer, you’re in for a treat with the 2025 model. Performance has been improved with superior battery options that enhance range, giving you an even better driving experience each day.
An all-new IONIQ 5 N trim takes power and heart-pounding acceleration to another level entirely. And with a rugged new XRT trim, you’ve got more remarkable options for this SUV than drivers enjoyed last year; let’s take a closer look at what it brings to the road, and you’ll see why so many people are choosing the IONIQ 5.
Superior Range on Every Model
There’s a lot to love about the updates Hyundai delivers with the 2025 IONIQ 5, but there’s no better place to start than with its performance. Just like last year’s model, Hyundai gives you a few different ways to enjoy the IONIQ 5 and get the kind of performance you want. You’ll find both single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) models and dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) options, letting you get the kind of driving experience you prefer.
The significant improvement for the 2025 IONIQ 5 is the battery system; there are two battery options, just like last year, but they’re both better than before. Previously, the standard choice was a 58-kWh battery, with an enhanced 77.4-kWh battery available with either RWD or AWD for the upgraded power system.
For the 2025 model year, Hyundai now provides the standard IONIQ 5 with a 63-kWh battery; the enhanced option is an available 84-kWh battery, still offered with either RWD or AWD. The result is the same performance as before, but with much greater range.
In 2024, the standard battery with RWD offered an estimated 220 miles of range; the upgraded battery with AWD could go 260 miles from a full charge, while RWD and enhanced battery reached 303 miles of range.
Looking at the improved 2025 model, you get an estimated 245 miles of range with the standard option, up to 290 miles from the enhanced battery and AWD, or up to 318 miles of maximum range with the superior battery and RWD. This lets you go further without charging.

All-New IONIQ 5 N Trim
As much as we love the performance and range of the options Hyundai provides with the IONIQ 5, one of the big new features for this year is the all-new, first-ever IONIQ 5 N. Some folks are so impressed by what this version offers that they consider it a completely separate model rather than a trim level, but we’ll let you decide if it’s an addition for the IONIQ 5 or worthy of being its own thing.
The standout feature of the IONIQ 5 N is its performance; for comparison, the IONIQ 5, with its enhanced battery and dual motors, provides 320 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque. That’s already quite impressive, but the IONIQ 5 N takes things to the next level with 641 hp and 545 lb-ft of torque, ensuring you have an incredible time on the road.
Its AWD setup helps you remain in control of all this power, plus you get different drive modes that adjust steering and throttle to create exactly what you want, with a simulated gear shift system you can activate to deliver something truly distinct.
New XRT Trim to Take You Further
Jumping back to the more conventional Hyundai IONIQ 5, one of its new standout features for 2025 is the addition of an XRT trim (the SE, SEL, and Limited trims are still available). We wouldn’t necessarily call the XRT an off-road trim, but that’s clearly where much of the inspiration for its design and features has come from. It’s built to be a rugged model that looks fantastic on the road, with impressive enough capabilities to get you to your favorite campsite and handle a wide range of dirt and gravel paths.
For starters, the XRT features big, all-terrain tires compared to the typical all-season tires that other IONIQ 5 trims come with. You’ll find distinct etched Digital Camouflage Cladding and Black bumpers, an XRT-exclusive rear spoiler, and other unique design details to go along with these tires.
The front and rear fascias, bumpers, and grille set this trim apart even when looking at it alongside other IONIQ 5 trims. It also has a higher ride height, getting seven inches of ground clearance—nearly an inch more than other IONIQ 5 models.
Refreshed Exterior Looks and Features
Of course, it’s not only the new XRT trim level that enjoys some exterior features that set it apart; the outside of the 2025 IONIQ 5 has been beautifully refreshed and revised compared to last year’s model.
The front and rear bumpers across all trims have been updated and look better than ever, along with a larger rear spoiler than the 2024 model. One particularly nice addition for the 2025 IONIQ 5 is a rear windshield wiper to help keep the back window nice and clear when dealing with rain, slush, or snow.
This gives you a stunning BEV compact SUV that’s available in a number of exterior colors that help it make a statement including Abyss Black, Atlas White, and Lucid Blue. That XRT trim we mentioned is also available in exclusive colors like Ecotronic Gray Matte and Ultimate Red.

Upgraded Interior Features for You to Enjoy
The outside isn’t the only part of the IONIQ 5 that has received an update and refresh; Hyundai’s designers have also beautifully revised its interior. You’ll quickly notice that the center console looks better and is more functional than inside last year’s model.
The available wireless charger has changed positions, moving up to become more accessible, and more physical buttons have been added elsewhere to simplify and improve overall functionality. This includes buttons dedicated to commonly used systems like the heated seats and steering wheel, making it easier to activate these things without navigating a bunch of menus.
Software for the infotainment system with its 12.3-inch display has been updated for the 2025 IONIQ 5, making it run better and ensuring it’s easier to use. Paired with a second 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster display that’s standard in every model and keeps essential information easy to see at a glance.
Driver assistance and safety systems have also been improved for the 2025 IONIQ 5 thanks to steering wheel haptic feedback, which, along with the Lane-Keeping Assist system and the Blind-Spot Collision Warning system, provides enhanced information in an emergency. The result is a cabin that looks and feels amazing, with plenty of great features to help protect you and your passengers.
